
Hey guys. It’s Christopher. Thanks for tuning in. Today I’m going to talk really quickly about a really effective and really simple prospecting method. A way for you to reach out to the people that you know and set appointments so you can break the ice and talk about the opportunity that you have to present. Okay?
Here it goes. And I’m going to talk about it in two different ways actually. I’m going to talk about it from a non-techie point of view and then from a little bit more techie point of view. Okay? The point here is to text message the person that you’d like to talk to. Not to call them. Not to, you know, call multiple times and that sort of thing; just to text message them and to get them to literally tell you when would be the best time to actually talk to them about your opportunity.
Here is exactly what I do. Here is the text message that I send. Okay? I go, “Hey, this is Christopher – was hoping to chat with you for a couple minutes sometime today”. And then I go, “When would be the best time to talk?” And then I go, “Text me back” and then I stop.
Okay? That’s what I send them right there. I go, “Hey, this is Christopher – was hoping to chat with you for a couple minutes sometime today – when would be the best time to talk? – text me back” and I send that to them.
And then I just wait. Now, here’s the thing. Here’s what is going to happen. The person is going to get that message and here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing. It doesn’t matter if they’re at work; if they’re at school; if they’re with the kids. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing. The text message is unobtrusive and they’re going to get that message.
The other thing is if you are on an iPhone or a BlackBerry, one of the message systems that give you delivery notification, you’ll actually know if the person got it. Okay? So you’re getting out into their life in an unobtrusive way and you’re saying exactly what you want. “Hey, this is Christopher – want to talk with you today – when would be the best time to talk? (that’s very important ) – text me back”.
The person is going to get back to you and they’re going to say, “Today is not a good day”. They’re going to say, “Two o’clock is best” and then you’re going to get back to them.
So the person is going to come back to you and go, “Call me at 2PM”, right? This is the person. They’re going to get back to you. They’re going to go, “Call me at 2PM”. And you’re going to back to them. You’re going to go, “Great” or whatever you do, right? You’re going to go, “Great” and you’re going to say, “I can’t. Talking with someone. Can’t do two; can we do 2:30PM?”; and you go through the process of solidifying a call appointment with that person. Right? And you end up with a time and you put it on your calendar, and then you call the person about your opportunity. Okay?That’s what I would do.
Now, that’s the non-techie version, right? So you take out your iPhone, you take out your phone, and you just go through it. Click. Click. Click. Click. Click. And you’d send it to them. I have a goal to talk to, to reach out to, twenty-five people a day. That’s my goal. I want to reach out to twenty-five people a day. That keeps me doing and getting progress and doing what I need to do. Okay? So it’s hard to click, click, click for twenty-five times, right? You could copy and paste and do it one time. Copy and paste.
I’m going to tell you the technique that I specifically use and this is a little more techie for those of you that kind of are little more technology-minded. Here’s what I do. I’ll show you the process. Okay?
I’m a fan of Google. Okay. I know some people Google this, Google that; whatever. I’m a fan of Google and all their services and I do a lot of stuff using their services. So here’s what I do. I have a Google Voice Business Number. Okay? My Google Voice Business Number is 312-278-3344. That’s my Google Voice Business Number, okay?
Now, the beautiful thing about a Google Voice Business Number is it works on my PC, it works on my iPhone, and it works on my iPad. So, wherever I am, I get the messages that come to that Google Voice Number.
So here’s my process. I sit down at my desk during the day. I have my list of people I want to reach out to for that day, right? I type the message that I just sent you in a notepad. So I open up Notepad. If you’re on a Mac, I don’t actually know what that is called on a Mac, but you know, you know what it means. I open up Notepad and I type the message. Okay? I type the message that I want to send and then I copy that message. Copy the message and I paste it into Google Voice. Okay? So it’s still a text message, but it’s a text message coming from my Google Voice Number. And I go down and do my twenty-five people really quickly.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. I do my twenty-five people. I can literally do that and I can reach out to twenty-five people in a matter of five minutes. So in five minutes I’ve reached out to twenty-five people and now, within literally the next five minutes, I’ve got people getting back to me going, “Let’s talk at two. Let’s talk at three. Let’s talk at four”.
So, without any appointments at all; if you have no appointments and you have no week right now, you have no prospects and no time set to talk to anybody, you could literally stop what you’re doing right this moment, use this text message, you could reach out to twenty-five people, and have appointments to call – five, six, seven appointments – to talk to people tonight. An instant way for you to get appointments. It’s unobtrusive, it gets into their life, and they’ll literally tell you when you want to talk to them; when they have the time to talk to you.
So you can do the old school way. Just type it into your phone. Or, grab a Google Voice Account, right? It’s on your PC, your iPhone, your iPad, your tablet, your Android; wherever it is. I just have PC; iPhone; iPad. You have what you have. Okay? And so, if I’m out at the beach with my hot girlfriend, right? Or if I’m over doing lunch with somebody and somebody sends me a message, it comes on my iPad. It pops up on my iPhone even if I’m not behind my desk.
So, behind my desk, in my pocket, and in my work surface I’m going to get those messages. I flip over to my calendar and there you go. So a really quick, really simple way, whether or not you have appointments right now, you can literally have appointments tonight. In the next hour, you could have five, six, seven appointments for your business.
